Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P42S1 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

The Panasonic S1 series is a pretty good overall tv. the only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the anti-glare screen. the anti-glare is definatly noticably less reflective then your standard gloss plasma screen but the standard high gloss screen gives a little better picture. I have this tv in a basement and it would have been better with the gloss screen. If you have a moderatley lit room but want a plasma then this would be perfect for you. I cant coment on the sound as i’ve never herd the tv’s speakers I have evything run straight to a hometheater system. I would recomend this tv to a friend looking for a 40+” tv under 00.

Panasonic CT-27HL14 27″ TAU Series HDTV-Ready TV User Review

For the price, I am much impressed with the picture on the Panasonic, the HD pics are very sharp and clear. At the time I bought it (2004) there were no other HDTVs close to the price. Still today it has provided me with trouble-free operations. I highly recommend it for a smaller HD set

Panasonic TCP54V10 54 inch Viera Full HD 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

This display is outstanding in every way. I also have a Panasonic TH-PZ42700U plasma so I am not new to plasma. I have had the set about a month now and have no serious complaints. HD picture over satelite is great SD is also good. I am viewing at 9ft. Have the display hooked up to a ONKYO 705 and surround sound. I see no flicker or judder on blu ray at 24p playback 96hz. Single pane of glass design is visually pleasing and overall slim profile. No buzzing can be heard from the display. My only complaint is Panasonic should not have placed the remote sensor dead center of the set. Many people like to put a center channel speaker there.

Panasonic Viera TC-37LZ800 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV User Review

I read all the features and LCD TV reviews before making my decision. I selected the Panasonic, though it was more expensive compared to other very good choices, for a number of reasons. Consumer Reports rated it tops in the 37″ size category. Many past reviewers gave it overall very high marks with very few below that rating. I was very pleased with past experience with Panasonic products. Also, I believe the Panasonic had larger and higher watt speakers in this LCD TV size range compared to competitors. Overall speaker quality in TVs of this size may be somewhat compromised because of the dimensional compactness of the box and that the 37″ may be used in varied locations with different needs: a small family or living room where some would want better speaker quality verses a bedroom setting where just adequate speakers may suffice. The Panasonic speakers were rated higher than the competition in this size range and we have found the speakers for our large bedroom more than adequate.

Having now had the LCD for a couple of months, it is excellent. I have nothing negative to indicate. Basically disconnected the cable from the old tv and hooked it up to the new LCD. We have Verizon Fios and the HDTV programs come in sharp and colors are perfect. Non-HDTV is fine as well. We have made no adjustments at all to any of the settings except fiddling around with the TV format sizing to get the right size picture (and this is a normal thing to be doing with any set). I highly recommend this Panasonic product.

Panasonic TH-50PH10UKA 50-Inch Dual HDMI Plasma HDTV User Review

Panasonic has cured the only issue with this professional model, and that was the shortage of HDMI ports….the 10UK model had one (1), this model has two (2), and the new HDMI add-on modules have 2 ports now so you can easily upgrade this unit to 4 HDMI ports which is more than most people will ever need…I think!

This 50″ 720p/1080i plasma panel is rated #1 by Consumer Reports, and is far superior to its closest competition which is Pioneer and Samsung. Right now this TV is a bargoon for people who plan to use a satellite tuner or cable box/DVR, and you will find the Split Screen/PIP feature to be a great option that is not included in Panasonic’s 58PZ700U/1080p model for twice the money so thats a nice bonus.

Now a word about 720p vs. 1080p…. no argument here that 1080p is technically superior, but if you research the difference in these two formats you will find there is an “optimal” distance from the TV that allows you to enjoy and actually see the benefits of the 1080p picture. For a 58″ plasma, the THX recommended distance is …..drum roll please…..5.5 feet! Other distance calculators you find on the web will put the optimal viewing distance for 1080p at 6.5 feet, and the max distance at 9′. Before you spend the extra money on a 1080p set you may want to check your living space to make sure your room will allow you to sit close enough to take advantage of the extra resolution provided by the new 1080p format.

Another thing to consider is this…. right now cable/satellite HD programming is delivered in stunning 1080i. If you’ve seen these broadcast signals in your own home then you already know they are spectacular. The likelihood of future 1080p broadcasts is very slim, too many technical hurdles to clear relative to bandwidth and this would also require the cameras at source to be upgraded so the obstacles are many. I seriously doubt you’ll see any change in the current format for another 10 years at least so that leaves us with the only 1080p medium today, other than video game platforms being BluRay discs, which are double the price of standard DVDs which can be upconverted rather inexpensively to 720p/1080i. So, there are a lot of considerations on where best to spend your money. Personally, I opted to buy this 58″ plasma for all the reasons above, and I don’t need the stand or tuner so it was sort of a no brainer. Plus, I already own two Panasonics, one being the 42″ Professional model so I know what I can expect. And those of you worried about reliability….don’t. Panasonic has the best record of service and reliability in the business, and my first 42″ model has been in continuous service for 4 years without missing a beat, and the picture is still just as crisp without a hint of burn-in.

One more note… if you’re not using a home theater setup and don’t plan to mount this tv on the wall, you will need the optional speakers and stand. If you are a smart shopper you can find them at reasonable prices on the web.

Panasonic CT-32HL44 32″ Flat Screen HDTV-Ready TV User Review

We purchased this TV because the picture quality was better than the Sony Wega. It also fits perfectly in our entertainment center where the JVC or the Sony have those large speakers on the side that make it impossible for it to fit into any center that is equiped to hold a 32″ TV.

Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P54S1 54-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, Black User Review

I researched TVs extensively prior purchasing this TV. Both plasma and LCD have their respective strengths and weaknesses. I went with a plasma TV vs a LCD TV based the room the TV was going to be placed in and my viewing habits. I went with Panasonic after comparing various models in store and reading reviews.

In my opinion, this is the best TV at this price range. It is lacking some features of other Panasonic models (G10, Z, V Series) such as THX mode, more robust picture settings, and Viera Cast. However, these features were not deal breakers for me since I was going to be primarily using this TV for sports, tv shows and gaming. And from my understanding, the S1 series uses the same panel as the G10, Z, and V series. My non-videophile eyes could not tell a difference in picture quality between the G10 and S1 when I compared them at the store.

The picture quality was good initially, but got even better after the TV was broken-in. I did not get the TV professionally calibrated but got valuable tips on the proper settings for this TV from the AVS Forum website (as another reviewer pointed out). The picture quality is excellent, the colors are vibrant and accurate and the picture using a Hi-def source is sharp. I noticed that this TV is able to provide more details in dark scenes compared to my friend’s LCD TV and other plasma TV. The picture quality out the box is good, but superb after some setting changes and time.

The sound is adequate, but I recommend hooking it up to a surround sound system.

The bezel on the TV is a nice piano black but is a fingerprint magnet, but that is not a problem since I don’t touch the TV bezel on a regular basis. The anti-glare coating is effective. I don’t notice glare while watching TV during the day, in fact the only glare that I really notice is from the piano black bezel.

The bottom line is if you can’t afford the high-end TVs such as the Pioneer Kuro Series and just are looking for a TV with an excellent picture just to watch TV, you won’t be disappointed with the S1 Series.

Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P 42-Inch High-Definition Plasma TV User Review

I am thrilled with this TV. I have a small apartment and the screen size is just right. Even the non HD picture is fantastic which is important because there are not that many HD broadcasts yet. My only complaint is that the sound is somewhat muffled on HD broadcasts. I plan on purchasing a separate amp, etc. I have purchased a Panasonic HDMI dvd player and dvd’s are fantastic. I also have the cable company’s HD DVR service. Once I get the sound system it should be perfect.
