Panasonic TC-P42S2 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

I ordered this plasma TV from Amazon and they passed the order on to another company to fulfill. The package arrived promptly from across the country but was broken up inside, apparently due to heavy handling by UPS. A replacement was shipped from Japan and it, too, arrived promptly, but had a serious flaw in its display. This looked like it had left the factory without being checked for operability. A third set was promised from Japan for delivery a month later and handling our order was turned over to a Panasonic dealer just a few miles away. They came around immediately and replaced the faulty set with a good loaner which they very nicely installed. After the month went by, they came around with the new set and installed it, again very nicely. The TV picture is absolutely beautiful.

Panasonic PT-47WX42 42-Inch 16:9 HDTV-Ready Projection TV User Review

I bought this TV about a month ago and so far I haven’t had any major problems with it. I did have to get it replaced because of a minor problem with it. The first one I got had a blue line in the corner of the component video inputs so I returned it for another one. (By the time the guys came to pick up the old one the blue line was gone but I figured it was better to be safe than have a line in the corner of the TV come back.) The new one hasn’t given me any problems so far. I have an Echostar 6000 receiver, which allows me to get HDTV programming. The HDTV picture quality is good it just doesn’t look perfect. It is a CRT based projection TV so it doesn’t look amazing, but I would still recommend it for someone looking for a projection HDTV. All and all if you want an HDTV but don’t want to shell out the cash for a plasma or LCD projection I’d say this product is well worth it. (Although I do wish it had the VGA inputs to go along with the component video imputs.)

Panasonic TC L42U12 – 42″ VIERA LCD TV – widescreen – 1080p (FullHD) – HDTV User Review

I’m only going to comment on the rear connections. Only one set of component in, which is fine because anyone who wants to use this great TV, should have updated equipment. But my cablebox ONLY has component, so I can’t use any other outdated systems…everything else must be HDMI to take advantage of TV. Since this is a bedroom tv, not a big deal.

Next…audio quality is poor. Which is fine because most ppl who have a nice TV will support it with extra speakers. I bought the TVee Soundbar because it’s simple and doesn’t need a receiver. Well…the TV only has ONE audio out. and it’s a digital (Toslink) audio out. Website says TWO audio out. I guess they’re counting the headphone jack. Looks like panasonic got a little lazy and didn’t bother to include support for older devices. Now I’m up a creek because I’ll either need to buy a toslink to rca converter or take the dive and get a receiver….but who the heck has a receiver in the bedroom?!

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U 42″ 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

I have really enjoyed this Plasma display as it has very rich colors and high quality video. I don’t get the white light effect on black colors referred to as “washed out colors” like lcd displays have. I am really happy with this and have my PS3 and HDMI DVD player hooked up to it with no problem.

Panasonic TH-50PZ77U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV User Review

I jumped to get mine during a one day sale for a rediculously lower price than here.

No dead pixels. Very bright picture. Video reproduction on this plasma is SO much better than most LCDs I’ve seen.

Using the HDMI ports from a BluRay player and a HD-DVD player I fine tuned mine to the following settings:

Picture Mode: Standard
Picture: -6
Bright: +15
Color: -6
Tint: -3
Sharp: +5
Color Temp: Normal
Color Management: Off
All Filters: Off

Those settings are for when 1080 is filling up the whole picture; but I have to lower the Picture and raise the Brightness for 4:3 or video with black bars at the top & bottom.

Blacks are better on Standard-Def tube monitors; but black on Plasma’s are
much much better than the LCD’s I’ve seen. I’ve attempted to help a few friends set up their LCD’s for best black, but resolution deteriorates on most LCD’s when blacks look good. On the other hand the Picture and Brightness tuning on this plasma behaves very similar to a Tube monitor. Blacks are still a bit too milky for my taste, but I guess I’ll have to raise the room lighting to trick out my eyes. I like this plasma for the price I paid for it.
